Matcha has gone from ancient tea ceremony staple to modern zeitgeist. It’s creamy, earthy, and the drink of choice for anyone chasing calm focus without the caffeine crash. But lately, TikTok and Instagram have been buzzing with claims that this trendy green powder could be linked to hair loss. For wellness lovers who start their mornings with a whisk and frother, that’s a pretty alarming thought.

Matcha contains tannins, compounds that can interfere with how your body absorbs non-heme iron (the type found in plant-based foods).
